Beijing, China – November 29, 2018 The OPC Foundation, is dedicated to providing the best specifications, technology, process and certification to achieve multivendor, multiplatform, secure, reliable interoperability for moving data and information from the embedded world to the enterprise cloud, and the Edge Computing Consortium (ECC), a world leading organization driving edge computing industry development in the Internet of Things (IoT) area, announced a liaison agreement to partner on shared interests of OPC UA, TSN and edge computing. Under the agreement, the consortia will work together with the shared goal for interoperability across the industrial control industry.
Joint activities between OPC Foundation and the ECC will include:
· Identifying and sharing best practices
· Collaborating on test beds
· Collaborating on standardization and conformance testing
“We are very excited about the cooperation between ECC and OPC Foundation,” said Mr. Haibin YU, Chairman of ECC. “We believe that the collaboration of OPC UA, TSN and edge computing technology will enable edge computing better meet the industrial customers end-to-end needs and promote the global industry digitization transformation.”
“An important part of the standardization is the evaluation in real world scenarios and this collaboration with ECC provides an exciting opportunity to verify OPC UA including TSN in edge computing scenarios.” said Mr. Stefan Hoppe President and Executive Director of the OPC Foundation.
The OPC Foundation and ECC conducted a joint presentation at the Edge Computing Industry Summit in Beijing on November 29, 2018 to announce their agreement and the opportunities ahead for OPC-UA, Time Sensitive Networking and Edge Computing.
